Dear brothers and sisters, may the peace of Jesus Christ be with you!
When we looked back to the day that Jesus Christ was born, there were shepherds staying in the fields near Bethlehem, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, the glory shone everywhere, and there was an angel announcing a great news to them, “to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord.” (Luke 2:11) Jesus was born as a human being and his birth brought in the age of grace. He also proclaimed to the world that the year of the LORD’s favor had come. Jesus brought freedom and the salvation of everlasting life to us, yet he became the scapegoat for the sin of all.
At the last moments of Jesus’ life on earth, although he clearly knew there would be humiliation and pain waiting for him, he steadfastly walked to Jerusalem for paying our debt of sin and faced the cruel crucifixion. We all know that Mary loved Jesus, so she broke her precious jar of perfume and poured it out on Jesus. Then she wiped Jesus’ feet with her tear and hair.
There were a group of Christians who loved Jesus and did what Mary had chosen to do. They broke their jars of perfume and offered their money and time to join SOW’s Taiwan Mission team, and they won the souls of more than a hundred students to Jesus. Also, many Sowing Warriors donated generously to support SOW. Their contribution enables us to complete the Bible Study Set of the Book of Joshua in English, the Bible Study Set of the Book of Esther in Arabic and the Bible Study Set of the Book of Job in Mandarin, Cantonese and Hakka. The birth of Jesus Christ became the Christmas gift to us from God. If you are also willing to break your jar of perfume for Jesus, I want to encourage you to become a Sowing Warrior through your donation of $180 or more to support SOW to finish the Bible Study Set of the Book of Job in English, the Bible Study Set of Psalms in Mandarin and the Bible Study Set of the Book of 1 Samuel which is in the final process of producing. You and I can purchase SOW’s Bible study sets as gifts for our family, friends and the small groups at church. We can also join in the movement of Muslim 1000 to support SOW’s Muslim Mission Ministries and provide funds to send more biblical materials to Muslim countries, so that we will be “giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater” (Isaiah 55:10). This will be our most meaningful Christmas gift to our loved ones.
Jesus says, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10) I sincerely wish you a Merry Christmas! May the glory of God’s Kingdom manifest in your life and shine out with great splendor, so the whole world will be filled with the good news of Christmas through your abundant life in Jesus Christ.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Rev. Susan Chen
