October 2017

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, greetings!

At the heel of Hurricane Harvey’s devastation in Texas, we encountered catastrophic wildfires in both northern and southern California.  Many people could not decide which earthly possessions they can take within minutes of notice.  Have you ever thought what is the most important possession in your life? How does it feel when we have to leave behind everything we accumulated and run for our lives? “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal.” (Matthew 6:19)

These wildfires are like what Jesus describes as the moths and the thieves that arrive suddenly while we are very comfortable minding our own business.  We have to admit that we are so limited that our earthly possessions could be destroyed within minutes no matter how much time and effort we have put in.  Where is the safe place for us to keep our treasure?  Jesus gives us the answer, “ …but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:20).  Jesus knows it well.  He reminds us that man cannot control our own wealth, nor can wealth give us happiness. Our true happiness is to store our treasures in heaven.

he Lord God told us clearly what is the most precious item among all things! It is the joy of leading others to come to Christ and to receive eternal salvation.  Jesus says, “For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life?” (Mark 8:36).  In God’s eyes, our soul is more precious than anything in this world.  Today, there are millions of Muslims that have never heard of Jesus Christ living in a hostile world with the West. God is providing us, Chinese Christians, with a unique opportunity to reach out to Muslims.  Given the less hostility toward us, we can introduce the gospel to them using our Bible Study Sets.  Our first step is to translate the “Book of Esther” into Arabic making it available to them in their language.

Our Annual Thanksgiving Fund Raising Dinner will be held on November 12, 2017, at 6 p.m.  You will hear a Egyptian pastor sharing the condition of reaching Muslims in the Arabic world; how can you participate in Arabic mission, and our latest update on the Study Guide of ‘Book of Judges’.  God intends to reach all nations with the gospel message.  As “giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater.” (Isaiah 55:10). You are cordially invited to join us at the dinner and partner with us through prayers and monetary support for the upcoming projects.  Let us store our treasures in heaven. (RSVP)

May God reveals His kingdom and His eternal plan to each one of us, and may we rejoice together with all the saints as He accomplishes His plan! To God be the glory!

Gratefully yours in Christ,
