2016 Taiwan Mission Testimony

By doing the mission work, we get to learn how to love, how to live a life that is bigger than ourselves, because God’s love is among us. Most of all, my heart is full of joy beyond words can describe when God’s calling has elevated us to be an instrument in His hands and He even calls us “His co-workers.”

2016-08-sow-taiwan-mission2My name is Michelle Bong, under the guidance of Pastor Susan Chen, I have joined SOW STM to do Taiwan Mission since the summer of 2012. Throughout the last 4 mission trips, I have had the privilege to meet many young people that joined our teams: from high school to college students, young adults, also adults of my age.   This year I got to meet a student from USCD, named Kion. During our mission debriefing, he was very thankful that God called him to join our mission team. He was full of joy that his time was well spent this summer by doing something meaningful in God’s kingdom. He experienced a life transforming process when he saw so many students in Touwu accepted Christ to be their LORD and Savior.

I remembered that in year 2012, when I started doing SOW Taiwna Mission, while I was in Taiwan, I asked a class of around thirty 5-6th grade children to name me the names of the gods they know. To my surprise, they gave me about 10 names of the gods they knew, but none mentioned Jesus. In 2014, I asked the same question to another class in our English Bible Camp, the answers I got were similar to what I learned in year 2012. It always saddens my heart that over 90% of the population in Taiwan does not know about Jesus Christ, the only true God.

2016-08-sow-taiwan-mission1Romans 10:17 says, “consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” And Isaiah 6:8, then I heard the voice of the LORD saying, “Whom shall I send. And who will go for us? And I said, “Here am I. Send me.”

Luke 10:2 (ESV) also remind us, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Will you prayerfully consider joining SOW STM in the summer of 2017 and experience life transform before your eyes through Jesus? I encourage you and your church’s mission team to join SOW’s 2017 Taiwan Mission!
